advanced small fry

Coed soccer for Kindergarten players age 5 as of August 31

HYSA’s Advanced Small Fry program is designed for Kindergarten players who are age 5 as of August 31. Advanced Small Fry follows an annual school-year eligibility cutoff, so players remain in the Advanced Small Fry program for both the fall and spring seasons.

Advanced Small Fry builds on the foundation of Mini Fry and Small Fry by introducing more structured soccer activities, increased ball work, and more game-like play while keeping the experience fun, active, and age-appropriate.

Players continue developing comfort with the ball, basic dribbling, passing, spacing, listening, teamwork, and confidence. At this level, players begin learning how to participate in small-sided games while still focusing on development, effort, and having fun rather than scores or standings.

What to Expect

Advanced Small Fry sessions are active, fun, and designed to help players become more comfortable with the ball and with game-like play. Coaches focus on dribbling, passing, spacing, teamwork, listening, and simple small-sided soccer activities. The goal is to build confidence and prepare players for the next step in HYSA while keeping the experience positive and fun.
