Our Mission

HYSA’s mission is to develop, promote, and administer youth soccer programs for players in Hudson, Massachusetts and neighboring towns. We provide recreational and competitive soccer opportunities for players age 3 and older, with a focus on skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and community.

While we teach the game of soccer, our larger purpose is to help players grow as young people. We believe youth sports should help players learn to work with others, compete with respect, handle both winning and losing with grace, and understand that success is measured by effort, improvement, character, and love for the game — not only by the scoreboard.

Our Values

Youth soccer should be fun. HYSA wants players to enjoy coming to practices and games, stay active, get touches on the ball, and leave the field excited to return. A successful season is one where players feel included, supported, and connected to their team.

Development Over Winning

HYSA is committed to player development at every age and ability level. Winning matters less than growth, effort, confidence, teamwork, and learning the game the right way. We celebrate improvement, hard work, and players trying new skills, positions, and ideas.

Sportsmanship & Respect

HYSA expects players, coaches, parents, and spectators to show respect for teammates, opponents, referees, coaches, and the game itself. Good sportsmanship means competing hard while treating others with dignity before, during, and after the game.

Inclusive Community

HYSA offers soccer opportunities without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, ability, background, or experience level. We believe every player deserves a safe, welcoming environment where they can learn, participate, and grow.

Positive Coaching

HYSA coaches are expected to lead with integrity, patience, and kindness. Coaches should create safe, constructive environments, communicate clearly, encourage players, and model the behavior we expect from our teams. Our coaches are teachers, mentors, and role models.

Teamwork & Belonging

Soccer gives players the chance to be part of something bigger than themselves. HYSA encourages players to support their teammates, work together, communicate respectfully, and take pride in representing their team, their family, and Hudson Youth Soccer.

What Success Looks Like at HYSA

At HYSA, a great season is not defined only by wins and losses. A great season means players are learning, improving, making friends, supporting teammates, respecting referees and opponents, and wanting to come back next season.

We want every player to leave HYSA better than they arrived — not only as a soccer player, but as a teammate, competitor, and young person.

Our Commitment to Players

HYSA is committed to creating an environment where players are treated with respect and dignity. Players should be encouraged, not embarrassed; coached, not criticized; and supported as they learn the game.

We expect every player to receive meaningful opportunities to participate, develop, and contribute to their team. Coaches are encouraged to celebrate effort, improvement, teamwork, and sportsmanship as much as performance or outcomes.

Our Expectations for Players

HYSA players are expected to play hard, play fair, support their teammates, respect opponents, listen to coaches, and respect referees. Players should use respectful language, avoid trash talk, and help make soccer a place where every player feels welcome.

When players wear an HYSA uniform, they represent their team, their family, their coaches, and Hudson Youth Soccer.

Our Expectations for Families and Spectators

Families and spectators play an important role in creating a positive soccer environment. HYSA asks families to cheer positively, support effort and teamwork, respect referees, and remember that youth soccer is about player development.

The players on both teams are children learning the game. Many will play with or against each other for years, and some may be teammates in future seasons. A positive sideline helps every player have a better experience.

Referee Respect - Respect the Call

HYSA has zero tolerance for referee abuse. Referees are an essential part of the game, and many youth soccer referees are young officials who are learning and developing just like the players.

Coaches, players, and spectators are expected to treat referees with respect, even when they disagree with a call. Concerns should be handled through the proper channels, not through yelling, arguing, intimidation, or abuse.

Our Promise

HYSA will continue to explore new ideas and opportunities that help players learn, compete, grow, and have fun. We are committed to building a soccer community where every child has the opportunity to participate in a healthy, active sport and develop a lifelong connection to the game.
