small fry

Coed introductory soccer for Pre-K players age 4 as of August 31

HYSA’s Small Fry program is designed for Pre-K players who are age 4 as of August 31 of the fall season. Small Fry follows an annual school-year eligibility cutoff, so players remain in the Small Fry program for both the fall and spring seasons.

Small Fry builds on the foundation of Mini Fry by introducing more soccer-specific skills while keeping the experience fun, active, and age-appropriate. Players who are not yet eligible for Small Fry may still be eligible for Mini Fry if they are age 3 as of the start of the current season.

Players continue to learn through movement games, simple activities, and small-sided play. The focus is on comfort with the ball, basic dribbling, listening, teamwork, and having fun with friends. At this level, players begin developing early soccer habits without the pressure of scores, standings, or formal competition.

What to Expect

Small Fry sessions are active, fun, and designed for young players. Coaches focus on movement, comfort with the ball, basic dribbling, listening, taking turns, teamwork, and simple soccer activities. There are no standings, scores, or formal games at this level.
