Grade 1/2
Coed in-town soccer for players in 1st and 2nd grade
HYSA’s Grade 1/2 program is an in-town soccer program for players in 1st and 2nd grade. This program introduces a more traditional soccer structure, with one weekly practice and Saturday morning games.
Players continue developing comfort with the ball, dribbling, passing, spacing, defending, teamwork, and sportsmanship. At this level, players begin learning the flow of the game, including throw-ins, corner kicks, goal kicks, and basic game restarts.
Grade 1/2 games are played in a 4v4 format with no goalkeepers. This keeps the game active, gives players more touches on the ball, and helps every player stay involved. Games are officiated by referees from HYSA’s Junior Referee Program.
